Only unknown challenges can create new value. 'HA TEN KO' is a fragrance brand that challenges areas where no one has yet ventured, without being bound by common sense. It reconstructs art, culture, and history through scent, offering experiences that stir the senses. As a director, I am dedicated to its innovation, pouring my passion into creating fragrance as an art form that moves people's hearts, rather than just a perfume.

After gaining experience abroad, I developed a deep respect for craftsmanship and sought to create a“bold (Hatenko)" world that expresses Japan' tradition and innovation through scent. I designed the logo inspired by torn paper shapes and reconstructed Ukiyo-e collages, focusing on both the essence of scent and the Ukiyo-e aesthetic, while highlighting the charm of Japanese culture. I hope you enjoy the subtle elegance and thoughtful details scattered throughout the product, visible from different angles.

CRAFTS PERSON

Woodworker

Hayakawa Woodwork

For the world's first attempt at applying Kaga Yuzen's beautiful colors to Kiso Hinoki caps, we use luxurious Kiso Hinoki that naturally has grown since the Edo period—the era of renowned Ukiyo-e artists like Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. Younger wood releases resin, making it unsuitable for this delicate process. This premium wood, aged approximately 250 years, is among the finest in the world, known for its strength, straight grain, and superior quality. Now, the same wood that once existed in the time of ukiyo-e masters is reborn as a fragrance cap, allowing people today to see and touch a piece of history-bringing happiness to both people and the wood itself.

Okuda Dyeing

Kaga Yuzen is a traditional dyeing technique deeply rooted in our hometown, Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. Through meticulous craftsmanship, it creates beautiful, intricate patterns. At HA TEN KO, we incorporate this technique into precious Kiso Hinoki wood, transforming delicate handwork into art that enhances its visual beauty. We take pride in preserving tradition while expressing its elegance in a new form. If more people can appreciate its charm, there is no greater joy for us as craftsperson.
